In an excellent and informative new video series, Northwestern University professor and NuMat co-founder Omar Farha and researchers his lab discuss MOFs, including their applications and potential. Describing building with MOFs like building with Legos in the first video, Farha says that while the metals and organic linkers are simple pieces, they in the end can “create very sophisticated structures.”
In the video below, Farha discussed the opportunities presented by storage and separation using MOFs and the implications for improving energy efficiency. “Storage and separation in the future is going to be very crucial,” he says. He also explains why researchers need to continue making new materials. We need “to be able to address new challenges that we might not know yet.”
